Tuesday. Three days of AI money, and the pattern is hard to miss: capital is chasing chips, listings and infrastructure while regulators and users are still catching up. Here is what actually moved, and what it tells you about where the next quarter is heading.
Since Sunday
RecapBetween Friday and this morning, a Chinese chipmaker nearly tripled on its Shanghai debut, a Chinese lab raised $5bn from Hong Kong investors two days after US agencies accused it of distilling American models, and SoftBank fell 11% once OpenAI said it would not go public this year. The through-line: AI capital is still flowing hard, but it is increasingly political.
Top Signal
Top SignalAnthropic has told investors it will turn a profit for a second straight quarter, though the claim leans on an adjusted figure that leaves out costs such as stock-based compensation, with gross margins above 80% before partner revenue-sharing and model-training costs. Quarterly revenue rose 14-fold year over year to $11.5bn, and the annualised run rate hit $65bn at the end of July. Reports point to a Nasdaq listing at a valuation of $2tn or more, with Nvidia reportedly ready to commit up to $10bn. The same week, CEO Dario Amodei publicly called for slowing frontier development. Profitable on paper, restrained in public: pick which message is aimed at which audience.
